The Santa Susana Railroad Historical Society is a club the has a permanent DCC (Digitrax) controlled layout located in the freight room of a depot building formally owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad in Simi Valley. Our railroad's scenery is focused towards the early 1950s. We hold regularly scheduled operating sessions and although our layout scenery is 100% complete, we are constantly updating it to higher standards.

All of our regular members are also volunteers with the Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks Department (RSPD). In order to become a member of our club, you must first submit an application to become a volunteer with RSPD, pass a background check and be fingerprinted. After you become a volunteer, prospective members can become a probationary member for a minimum of 6 months before being voted on by the membership to be accepted as a member. Our members are required to serve one 3 hour weekend shift approximately once every six weeks.

Junior memberships for age 18 and under are also available when sponsored by a member.

Our layout is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays with the exception of national holidays from 1 pm to 4 pm. Our monthly business meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 pm in the depot's community meeting room.
